Just as every person is unique, so too is how a person with dementia is affected. Some are quiet and withdrawn while others become anxious and agitated. Some have only a mild memory loss that does not progress while others become wholly unable to successfully complete tasks and care for themselves safely.
Within this wide range are some common problems that affect the living skills of a person with changes in their thinking ability. These include forgetting appointments and recent events, poor judgment, lack of safety awareness, difficulty completing a familiar task including the ability to stand up and sit down safely, remembering familiar routes when out in the community, and forgetting appointments and recent events.
